Implementación de una Geodatabase para un Área Piloto del Departamento 25 de Mayo, San Juan, Argentina

Abstract

This Investigation parts from a sorrow recompilation of digital and analog information that corresponds to an area under irrigation of the department 25 de Mayo, of the Province of San Juan in Argentina. The information is derived from various sources, conventions and research projects over several decades, and is related to soil, irrigation and drainage, management studies of water resources and use. The central focus of the thesis is to encounter for a centralized design, management and implementation of a geodatabase (GDB) managed by a Geographic Information System (GIS). The technological platform used is ArcGIS 9.3 from ESRI. It is to be shown in which way and to what extent the GDB facilitates a centralized management and control of the irrigated areas and their agricultural production, by allowing for constant processes of data storage maintaining integrity and continuous updating of spatial information regarding the area. The methodologies developed for this specific case in Argentina become an essential instrument for critical decision making on both resources and processes for the institution involved.

El presente trabajo se basa en recuperar información existente, en formato digital y no digital, correspondiente a un área bajo riego del departamento 25 de Mayo, provincia de San Juan, República Argentina. La información proviene de diversas fuentes, producto de convenios y proyectos de investigación a lo largo de varias décadas, relacionados al suelo, riego y drenaje, estudios de gestión del recurso hídrico y su aprovechamiento. El modo de centralizarla consiste en el diseño, gestión y aplicación de una geodatabase (GDB) gestionada por un sistema de información geográfica (SIG) cuya plataforma es el software ArcGIS 9.3. De esta manera, la GDB permite no solo el almacenamiento de la misma, sino que además, logra preservar su integridad y su permanente actualización. Por tal motivo, se convierte en una herramienta para futuras intervenciones y toma de decisiones.
