Evolución de los programas sanitarios en el Alto Valle de Río Negro y Neuquén
Abstract
Para poder visualizar mejor la evolución de la sanidad de los frutales nos debemos remontar en el tiempo. Hacia 1928-1930 los colonizadores del valle de la Norpatagonia habían logrado financiar la reconversión productiva de sus explotaciones familiares (algunos árboles frutales alrededor de sus casas), transformando su chacra en exclusivamente frutícola (peras y manzanas). Para poder visualizar mejor la evolución de la sanidad de los frutales nos debemos remontar en el tiempo. Hacia 1928-1930 los colonizadores del valle de la Norpatagonia habían logrado financiar la reconversión productiva de sus explotaciones familiares (algunos árboles frutales alrededor de sus casas), transformando su chacra en exclusivamente frutícola (peras y manzanas). El aumento de estos cultivos fue acompañado por el incremento de los problemas sanitarios. Para mejorar la eficiencia y calidad de la producción de frutas frescas, la empresa Ferrocarril del Sud crea en 1918 la Estación Agronómica Cinco Saltos.
Para ello fueron convocados importantes entomólogos, fitopatólogos y genetistas. Estos profesionales alertaban entre otras cosas, sobre la presencia de diferentes plagas en la región, describían sus daños, biología y realizaban las correspondientes recomendaciones de control a través de publicaciones de acceso gratuito (Revista del Ferrocarril del Sur). Por otra parte, la empresa, les otorgaba la posibilidad de acceder con facilidades de pago a plaguicidas y fertilizantes.
