Appication of loop-mediated isothermal amplification as a tool for environmental surveillance of leptospiral reservoirs
Abstract
Leptospirosis is a globally important zoonosis caused by pathogenic strains of the genus Leptospira, affecting domestic and wild animals as well as humans. The survival of leptospires in the environment plays a key role in transmission.

Synanthropic rodents (Rattus norvegicus, Rattus rattus, and Mus musculus) are major reservoirs, shedding the bacteria in urine and contaminating the environment. Detecting these carriers is essential for understanding environmental transmission and designing effective control strategies within a One Health framework.
