Diseño de cultivos de batata y maíz en consociación como herramienta de diversificación productiva en pequeñas explotaciones agrícolas

Abstract

La diversificación productiva y ecológica son requisitos básicos en los sistemas agroecológicos. Los productores familiares necesitan disponer formas y diseños de cultivos alternativos, que optimicen su diversidad productiva; las pequeñas superficies de laboreo y los rendimientos agronómicos. El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar en un experimento de los años 2011 a 2018 ( EEA INTA San Pedro), el comportamiento del cultivo de batata cv Arapey, el de maices criollos; variedades INTA e híbridos no OGM y leguminosas, en diferentes formas de consorcio. El rendimiento en batata y maiz fueron expresados como porcentaje del monocultivo y a su vez se calculó el Indice Equivalente Área. Se corroboró una mayor plasticidad en la consociación de batata, sin afectar su potencial de rendimiento comparada con maíz. Los maíces criollos y variedades de INTA se adaptaron bien al consorcio con leguminosas (Canavalia ensiformis), pero en relación a batata presentaron menores rendimientos que en el monocultivo.

Productive and ecological diversification are basic requirements in agroecological systems. Family farmers need to have forms and designs of alternative crops that optimize their productive diversity; the small tillage areas and the agronomic yields. The objective of the work was to analyze in an trials of the years 2011 to 2018 (EEA INTA San Pedro), the behavior of the cultivation of sweet potato cv Arapey, that of native corn ; INTA varieties and non-GMO hybrids and legumes, in different forms of consortium. The yield in sweet potato and maize were expressed as a percentage of the monoculture and in turn the Equivalent Area Index was calculated. Greater plasticity was confirmed in the sweet potato consociation, without affecting its yield potential compared to corn. The native maize and INTA varieties adapted well to the consortium with legumes (Canavalia ensiformis), but in relation to sweet potatoes they presented lower yields than in monoculture.
