| dc.description.abstract | According to United Nations estimates, the global population will increase by 2 billion by 2050, which will demand a rise in agricultural and livestock production. However, this growth will not come with greater availability of non-renewable resources. Agricultural intensification relies heavily on synthetic fertilizers, and Latin America and the Caribbean import about 85% of what they use, making them highly dependent on external markets. In this context, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and the transition to a circular economy is essential. One strategy involves using renewable resources, such as organic waste, to produce bio-inputs.
