Protection conferred by immunization plans using live and inactivated Salmonella vaccines against the challenge with S. Enteritidis

Abstract

Salmonella infection is a major cause of bacterial enteric illness in both human and animals, and poultry production is usually associated with the contamination of this food-borne pathogen. Vaccination is one of the main tools for controlling the pathogen on farms. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the protection conferred by the combination of live and inactivated S. Enteritidis (SE)-based vaccines against challenge with a field strain of SE in laying hens.
