Impacto de la redistribución de agua en áreas de estepa: estudio de caso en un arroyo temporario del NO de Chubut = Water redistribution effect in steppe areas: a study case in a temporary stream of the Chubut NW

Abstract

Con el objetivo de evaluar el impacto en la vegetación y el suelo de una obra de redistribución de agua en área de estepa, se desarrolló durante 2010 y 2011 un ensayo en el área ecológica de Sierras y Mesetas Occidentales del NO de Chubut. Se sembraron especies forrajeras y se evaluó el impacto del riego de invierno sobre la siembra, la vegetación natural y sobre características del suelo. La siembra falló ya que a pesar de haber aportes extras de agua, la presencia de humedad en el suelo no logró coincidir con una acumulación térmica suficiente. La vegetación natural mostró cambios positivos ante el riego inverno primaveral. Las variables edáficas analizadas se modificaron en la última medición revelando un incremento en los valores de salinidad aunque muy lejos de alcanzar niveles problemáticos.

With the aim of evaluate the impact in vegetation and soil of a water redistribution work in steppe area, a test developed during 2010 and 2011 in the ecological area of Sierras y Mesetas Occidentales of Chubut NW. Forage species were sowed and the impact of the spring-winter irrigation was evaluated on the sowing, on the natural vegetation and on soil characteristics. The sowing failed in spite of the contributions extras of water, the presence of dampness in the soil did not manage to coincide with sufficient thermal accumulation. The natural vegetation showed positive changes under irrigation. The analyzed soil variables were modified in the last measurement revealing an increase in the values of salinity though very far from reaching problematic levels
