Comparison of the application of the attenuated Salmonella Enteritidis or Salmonella Typhimurium vaccines by different routes in chicks
Abstract
Introduction: Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and S.Typhimurium (ST) are the two most important zoonotic Salmonella serovars and, together with biosecurity measures, the use of livevaccines isthemainstrategy to reduce the transmission of the pathogens to humans. Introduction: Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and S.Typhimurium (ST) are the two most important zoonotic Salmonella serovars and, together with biosecurity measures, the use of livevaccines isthemainstrategy to reduce the transmission of the pathogens to humans. Live Salmonella vaccines can be administered by drinking water to the chicks from the first day of life on wards, although vaccination may fail when the chicks do not consume enough water. Therefore, alternative routes of application should be considered in order to guarantee the correct dose intake of the vaccinein 1-day-oldchicks. The aim of this studywas todeterminethere-isolation of two vaccines trains when chicks are immunized by differentroutes.
