Controversias sobre el origen de la contaminación por boro (B). Subcuenca del río Calchaquí, provincia Salta, Argentina

Abstract

El agua que se destina al riego de los cultivos de frutales, legumbres, hortalizas y cereales, entre otros, necesita satisfacer un patrón de calidad, por cuanto no debe contener sustancias en exceso (tóxicas) que resultan contaminantes también para el suelo. Sin embargo, en los ríos de la alta cuenca del río Juramento del valle Calchaquí salteño se encontró contaminación en aguas de riego con boro (B) en forma constante. Existen varias hipótesis sobre el origen de la presencia de B, en concentraciones que resultan tóxicas para las plantas, en las aguas de los ríos. Este trabajo intenta indagar, a través de fuentes de diferentes autores, los posibles orígenes de esa contaminación en los ríos de la cuenca alta del río Juramento, situado en el área vecina al departamento de Los Andes. Para esto se realizó un análisis cualitativo, basándose en una búsqueda exhaustiva de información secundaria y seleccionando una producción bibliográfica de distintos autores que han definido los orígenes y efectos del boro en los ríos. La presencia del boro en las aguas se puede explicar por muchos factores y existen varios motivos por los cuales llega a los ríos del valle Calchaquí salteño. Estas hipótesis pueden ser multicausales.

The water that is destined to the irrigation of the crops of fruit trees, legumes, vegetables or cereals, among others, needs to satisfy a pattern of quality, not having to contain toxic substances in excess or heavy metals that are also polluting for the ground. However, in the rivers of the high basin of the Oath of the Calchaquí Valley of Salta, contamination was found constantly in irrigation waters with boron (B). There are several hypotheses about the origin of the presence of B, in concentrations that are toxic to plants, in river waters. This work tries to investigate, through sources of different authors, the possible origins in the rivers of the upper Juramento River Basin, located in the area adjacent to the department of Los Andes. For this, a qualitative analysis was carried out based on an exhaustive search for secondary school and selecting a bibliographic production of different authors that have defined the origins and effects of the presence of B. Many factors can give reasons for the B in the waters. There are several indications of the origin by which the B reaches the rivers of the Calchaquí Valley of Salta. These hypotheses can be multicausal.
