Cambios ocurridos en los tambos bovinos desde el 2014 al 2023 en la cuenca lechera del Valle de Lerma, Argentina = Changes that occurred in bovine dairy farms from 2014 to 2023 in the dairy basin of the Lerma Valley, Argentina

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo fue el de conocer los cambios productivos de relevancia en los tambos de la cuenca lechera del valle de Lerma (Salta), desde inicios del 2014 a fines del 2023. Durante el período 2022-2023 se realizó una encuesta transversal en 10 tambos, registrando datos productivos, sanitarios y reproductivos que fue contrastada con otra realizada en 2013-2014. Los resultados muestran que el 50% de los tambos pasó de un sistema de base pastoril a sistemas totalmente confinados con mayor incorporación de tecnología. Este cambio vino acompañado con el aumento en el 53,4% en el número de vacas por tambo, pasando en promedio de 283,4 ± 64,1 a 418,8 ± 212,7 animales y un incremento en la producción media diaria de 5.818 ± 1.894 a 8.298 ± 3.524 litros de leche y un rinde por vaca de 23,6 ± 2,8 a 25,6 ± 5,9 litros. Aunque se evidenció un crecimiento en la producción, fundamentalmente a partir una mayor intensificación de los sistemas, inversión en infraestructura y tecnología y el aumento del tamaño de los rodeos, se deben estudiar las deficiencias a nivel reproductivo y sanitario, ya que sus índices como las tasas de mortalidad y descarte no se modificaron.

The purpose of this work was to understand the relevant productive changes in the dairy farms of the Lerma Val-ley (Salta), from the beginning of 2014 to the end of 2023. During the period 2022-2023, a cross-sectional survey was carried out in 10 dairy farms, recording infrastructure, productive, health and reproductive data that was contrasted with a previous survey carried out in 2013-2014. The results show that 50% of the dairy farms changed from a grazing-based system to totally confined systems with greater incorporation of technology. This change was accompanied by a 53.4% increase in the number of cows per dairy farm, going on average from 283.4 ± 64.1 to 418.8 ± 212.7 animals, and an average daily milk production increase from 5.818 ± 1.894 to 8.298 ± 3.524 liters per farm, and from 23.6 ± 2.8 to 25.6 ± 5.9 liters per cow. Although an increase in production was evident, fundamentally from the intensification of the systems, investment in infrastructure and technology and herd size increases, deficiencies of the reproductive and health data must be studied since their parameters as the mortality and culling rates did not change.
