Productividad, calidad potencial de rollizos y características de la canopia en taxones de pinos en Misiones, Argentina

Abstract

En el año 1996 se estableció un ensayo en bloques de taxones de pinos en Cerro Azul, provincia de Misiones, Argentina. A los 19 años se evaluaron las parcelas de taxones de Pinus elliottii, Pinus taeda, ambos de huertos semilleros clonales locales, Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis, el híbrido entre Pinus elliottii x Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis (F1), su F2 de polinización abierta y las retrocruzas de F1 x Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis y Pinus elliottii, todos ellos procedentes de Australia. Se determinó la productividad de los mismos, características de la canopia como la longitud de copa verde, la cantidad de internudos largos mayores a 0,60 m por debajo de los 6,20 m de altura. Posteriormente se procedió a establecer las diferencias entre taxones con modelos lineales generales y mediante el test DGC se realizaron comparaciones de medias. Los taxones de mayor productividad fueron Pinus taeda y el híbrido F1. Se determinaron diferencias estadísticas entre los ideotipos de copa de los taxones. Pinus elliottii fue el taxón que tuvo la mayor cantidad de internudos largos por debajo de los 6,20 m de altura y también la mayor sumatoria de estos por árbol y por hectárea. En estas últimas características se destacó también la retrocruza de F1 x Pinus elliottii. Es necesario incluir en los estudios de fenotipado de Pinus spp. la arquitectura y estructura de copas, ya que inciden en los procesos de transformación mecánica.

In 1996, a pine taxa trial was established in Cerro Azul, Misiones province, Argentina. Nineteen years later, it was evaluated the plots of Pinus elliottii, Pinus taeda, both from local clonal seed orchards, Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis, the hybrid between Pinus elliottii x Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis (F1), its open-pollinated F2 and backcrosses of F1 x Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis and Pinus elliottii, all of them from Australia. It was determined their productivity and canopy characteristics, such as the length of the green crown, the number of long internodes greater than 0.60 m below 6.20 m in height. Subsequently, the differences between taxa were established using general linear models and by means of the DGC test, comparisons of means were made. It was possible to determine the higher productivity of Pinus taeda and F1 hybrid. Differences among the crown ideotypes, were also determined. Pinus elliottii was the taxon showing the largest number of long internodes below 6.20 m in height and the largest sum of these per tree and per hectare. In the latter characteristics, the F1 x Pinus elliottii backcross also highlighted. It is necessary to include crown architecture and structure in future phenotyping studies of Pinus sp., since they affect the mechanical transformation processes
