Pautas de selección de vientres en rodeo comercial: manual para productores como insumo para las buenas prácticas ganaderas
Abstract
El progreso genético de un rodeo está determinado por la selección de vaquillonas de reposición, el descarte de vientres adultos y la utilización de reproductores con garantía de origen y mérito genético conocido. Como parte del proceso de selección, la apreciación visual de determinadas características físicas, es fundamental en la búsqueda de buen potencial de crecimiento, eficiencia productiva (desplazamiento, alimentación, larga vida productiva y lactancia) y alto valor comercial. La selección realizada a partir de los puntos anteriores, implica facilidad de manejo (menor mano de obra, mejor aprovechamiento de la infraestructura y horas de trabajo) con impacto positivo desde lo económico, financiero y ambiental.
