Prácticas de manejo para almacenamiento y uso agronómico de cama de pollo
Abstract
El presente documento contiene una recopilación de recomendaciones técnicas para almacenamiento y uso agronómico de cama de pollo como enmienda en lotes agrícolas. Dichas recomendaciones se basan en el estado del arte actual y la bibliografía disponible. Dado el avance de la ciencia, estas recomendaciones deberán ser revisadas y actualizadas periódicamente.
La “cama de pollo” (CP) es el sustrato sobre el que se desarrolla la crianza del pollo parrillero.

Dichas recomendaciones se basan en el estado del arte actual y la bibliografía disponible. Dado el avance de la ciencia, estas recomendaciones deberán ser revisadas y actualizadas periódicamente.
La “cama de pollo” (CP) es el sustrato sobre el que se desarrolla la crianza del pollo parrillero. Está compuesto por materiales como cáscara de arroz, aserrín o virutas de pino o eucaliptus, que a lo largo de la crianza van recibiendo restos de alimento, plumas y deyecciones de las aves (Gange et al 2016). Cuando la CP se almacena y aplica apropiadamente, este material tiene valor como fertilizante orgánico y acondicionador del suelo. Sin embargo, su aplicación excesiva o el almacenamiento inadecuado pueden ocasionar contaminación de las matrices suelo, agua y aire.
