Panorama actual del cultivo de alfalfa en Argentina
Abstract
A principios de 2018, el área de siembra de alfalfa se estimaba en cerca de 3,2 millones de hectáreas, de los cuales aproximadamente el 60 % correspondía a alfalfares puros –destinados principalmente a la producción de leche bovina y la henificación– y el restante 40 % a siembras asociadas con gramíneas templadas para la producción de carne en condiciones de pastoreo. A principios de 2018, el área de siembra de alfalfa se estimaba en cerca de 3,2 millones de hectáreas, de los cuales aproximadamente el 60 % correspondía a alfalfares puros –destinados principalmente a la producción de leche bovina y la henificación– y el restante 40 % a siembras asociadas con gramíneas templadas para la producción de carne en condiciones de pastoreo. No obstante, siguiendo una tendencia que se viene materializando desde hace unos años, el área alfalfada a mediados de 2019 había descendido a poco menos de 3 millones de ha. Si bien no se cuenta con datos oficiales de superficie sembrada, esta
disminución es compatible con la cantidad de semilla fiscalizada que se consumió en el país durante el período 2016/2019, según la información de la Cámara de Semilleristas de la Bolsa de Cereales (CSBC).
