Ovejas al sur. Caracterización del sector lanero chubutense desde la economía política

Abstract

La actividad lanera de Chubut reviste gran relevancia geopolítica y cultural dentro de su matriz económica. Para su caracterización se parte de considerar que el sector lanero es resultado de una estructura multiescalar y multidimensional, que tiene su propia dinámica, articula, organiza y asigna recursos humanos y materiales en todas sus dimensiones. A través de la lectura de fuentes secundarias, entrevistas a informantes calificados y documentos oficiales se propone el análisis de seis factores (mercado internacional, capital transnacional, propiedad de activos productivos, recursos de poder, infraestructura física e incorporación de tecnología) que, históricamente, caracterizaron la estructura del sector lanero de Chubut en cada una de sus escalas (mundial, nacional y regional/sectorial).

Chubut’s wool activity has great geopolitical and cultural relevance within its economic matrix. In order to characterize it, it is considered that the wool sector is the result of a multi-scale and multi-dimensional structure, which has its own dynamics, articulation, organization and allocation of human and material resources in all its dimensions. Through the reading of secondary sources, interviews with qualified informants and official documents, this research proposes the analysis of six factors (international market, transnational capital, ownership of productive assets, power resources, physical infrastructure and incorporation of technology) that, historically, has characterized the structure of the wool sector in Chubut across its different levels (global, national and regional / sectoral).
