Régimen de precipitaciones en el centro oeste de Entre Ríos

Abstract

En este trabajo se caracteriza el régimen pluviométrico de la zona centro oeste de Entre Ríos a distintas escalas de tiempo y se analiza y compara el comportamiento de las precipitaciones de 10 campañas agrícolas. A tal efecto, se utilizaron datos de precipitaciones diarias (PPd) de la Estación Experimental Agropecuaria Paraná de INTA, correspondientes al período 1934 - 2016. A partir de las PPd se calcularon las precipitaciones mensuales (PPM), precipitaciones trimestrales (PPT) y precipitaciones de una campaña agrícola (PPA). Las PPA en la década comprendida entre las campañas 2006-2007 y 2015-2016 presentaron un valor medio de 1126 mm año-1, con un mínimo de 732 mm año-1 y un máximo de 1595 mm año-1. Se contabilizaron 795 días con precipitaciones (21,8 % del total de días de la década). De ellos, 526 tuvieron un valor menor a los 12,5 mm (66%). El 95 % de las PPd presentaron un valor menor a 54 mm. En la década, solo se produjeron 5 días con eventos que superaron los 107 mm día-1. Las PPT se diferenciaron significativamente entre trimestres. Los trimestres 3 (enero-marzo) y 2 (octubre-diciembre) no se diferenciaron significativamente entre sí y presentaron los mayores valores de PPT (461 mm trimestre-1 y 362 mm trimestre-1). Los menores valores de PPT ocurren, en promedio, entre los meses de abril y setiembre (198 mm trimestre-1 y 105 mm trimestre-1). Entre octubre y diciembre se identificaron 50 días con precipitaciones, mientras que entre enero y junio fue de 30 días en promedio. Se logró clasificar a las 10 campañas de acuerdo al Índice Normalizado de Precipitación (SPI, en inglés) anual, permitiendo diferenciar aquellas campañas con un comportamiento normal respecto de las campañas extremas. Si bien el 66% de PPd dentro de una campaña son menores a 12,5 mm, estas solo representaron el 17% del volumen precipitado.

Located in the south of the region of Mesopotamia, the province of Entre Ríos (Argentina) shows an undulating topography and low soil infiltration capacity. As a consequence, a large area of the province is prone to soil degradation by water erosion. This study aimed to characterize the precipitation regime of the central western area of Entre Ríos at different time scales, and to analyze and compare the behavior of rainfall during 10 agricultural years. For this purpose, data on daily rainfall values (PPd, in Spanish), recorded in the period between 1934-2016 by INTA (in Spanish) in its Agricultural Experimental Station-Paraná, were analyzed. From the PPd values, monthly rainfall (PPM, in Spanish), threemonth rainfall (PPT, in Spanish) and rainfall of each agricultural year (PPA, in Spanish) values were calculated. The ten agricultural-year period, from 2006-2007 to 2015-2016, showed an average rate of 1126 mm year-1, with minimum and maximum rates of 732 mm year-1 and 1595 mm year-1, respectively. Rainfall days accounted for 795 (21.8 % of the total days of the period), 526 of which showed daily rainfall values below 12.5 mm (66% of the total rainfall days). Up to 95% of the PPd were lower than 54 mm. In the decade, there were only 5 days with events that exceeded 107 mm day-1. The PPTs values differed significantly between trimesters: 3rd trimester (Jan. - Mar.) and 2nd trimester (Oct. - Dec.) were not significantly different and showed the highest PPT values (461 mm trimester-1 and 362 mm trimester-1, respectively). The lowest PPT values occurred, on average, between April and September (198 mm trimester-1 and 105 mm trimester-1). Rainfall days accounted for 50 days between October and December and 30, between January and June, on average. The ten agricultural years were classified by means of the annual Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), which allowed to differentiate normal rainfall years from those with excessive precipitation. Although 66% of PPd within an agricultural year were lower than 12.5 mm, they represented only 17% of the total rainfall.
